I have a question about what is permissible for women when they are on their menstrual cycles. Is it okay for women to read, recite Quran when they are on their period, without touching the pages or words, just simply having it lay on a table or on their lap to read? Jazakallahu khairan

From the Fiqh / Jurisprudential perspective.
It is Makrooh ( Not Recommended) for a ha’id ( Women in menstruation ) to read the holy Qur’an, or keep it with herself, or touch with any part of her body the space between its lines.
It is Makrooh ( Not Recommended) to Touch the cover of the Holy Qur’an or Pages.
It is Haram ( Forbidden) to Touch the writing of the Holy Qur’an.
Recitation ( from memory or other means) of the Holy Quran is Mubah, except for the verses for which prostration (Sajdah) is obligatory.
Reciting more than seven verses of the Holy Quran is Mubah, and according to some jurists it is Makrooh ( Not Recommended).
