Salam Alaykum,
I hope this email finds you well.
I have some questions on behalf of my mother who is over 60 years of age:
She had performed Hajj in 1984 and recalls passing wind during Tawaf. She was too embarrassed to let her companions know (mix of male and female) and continued the tawaf. She did not go back to do wudhu and repeat the tawaf. What are the implications of this and how can this be corrected?
She has several missed fasts (some intentionally broken), missed prayers and khums which wasn\’t paid – does she need to do a rough estimate and start making up the qaza? What are the alternatives.
Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide.

As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
We hope this answer finds you in high Islamic spirit.

  1. Her hajj will not be considered valid and she has to perform it again or send someone to perform it on her behalf.
  2. For the fasts that have been broken intentionally, she has to do the qada and pay kaffarah for each day either to feed sixty needy people, to fast for sixty days, or to give freedom to a slave (which is not practical nowadays). For the missed prayers, she has to do an estimated number with which she will be satisfied and perform qada. And, about the Khums, the savings that she has now, the property that she bought for investment, or jewelry which hasn’t been used, it is all subject of Khums. And, for the past, ask Allah SWT for forgiveness.
